The world lost one incredible lady December 12th, 2017. Amanda Victoria Flowers Kuykendall was hell on wheels, literally and figuratively. Children that experienced her school bus driving skills could attest. Family and friends would all agree that Amanda was tough and determined, while also being the most soft, caring, beautiful person anyone knew.
Born on September 13, 1957 in Altus, Oklahoma, she got to Texas as soon as she could, assuming the embodiment of a true Texan. She loved her Willie Nelson, alligator cowboy boots, and a cold Lone Star beer. She met and married the love of her life, Jeffrey Daniel, in San Antonio, where they agreed was the best place to grow their little family. They celebrated thirty-nine years in November of this year, convincing everyone that true love is the greatest thing. Second greatest thing, of course, are grandchildren. Amanda adored and spoiled her grandkids rotten. Sean, Weston, Lucy, Rex, and Ellie all brought her so much joy. She always had a photo album or her phone filled with pictures ready to dote on each and every one of them. Amanda dedicated twenty-five years to the Northeast Independent School District’s transportation department; having started bus driving once all of her own children had started school. For a woman with a high school diploma earned at Robert E. Lee High School (Class of 76’), she made her way up to assistant supervisor by hard work and dependability everyone she worked with admired. She was so proud of all the things she contributed in her time there and cherished the many friendships she gained. Amanda will be joining her father and mother, Frank and Mary Flowers, in eternal existence, while she is survived by her husband Jeff, children Jeffrey JR, Jeremy, Rachel, and their significant others; grandchildren; sister Sheri, brothers Mike and Casey; Mother-in-law Blanche; several brother and sister-in-laws; nieces and nephews that she also loved so dearly. Amanda’s Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday December 16th, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 600 Oblate San Antonio, TX 78216. Please join us in laughs and tears as we remember all the good times. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society in her honor.
