Amelia M. Cantu

Amelia M. Cantu, born on February 4, 1938, in Fredericksburg, Texas, passed away peacefully in San Antonio, Texas, on March 25, 2025. Amelia was a beloved mother, sister, and friend, known for her warm spirit and creative talents.

Amelia's passion for crafting was evident in everything she did. She was a master seamstress, often conjuring beautiful pieces that brought joy to those around her. Her love of gardening brought vibrancy not only to her home but also to her heart, as she tended to her plants with care and affection. In her quieter moments, Amelia found joy in watching Western films and listening to music, immersing herself in the stories and melodies that filled her home with warmth.

She is survived by her children, Hector Cantu, Virginia Cantu and Oralia Cantu; her siblings, Julian Martinez, Maria Elena Martinez, Gloria Martinez, Molly Martinez, Julia Martinez, and Rachel Martinez; also numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Each of her surviving family members carries with them the cherished memories of Amelia's kindness, creative spirit, and her enduring love.

Amelia was predeceased by her loving husband, Luz Cantu, parents Gregorio and Ventura Martinez, her three children, Maria Rosa Hernandez, Lucinda Escobedo, and Rudy Cantu. She also mourns the loss of her brothers, Gregorio Martinez, Herman Martinez, and Ismael Martinez. Amelia's legacy is one of love and artistry, woven into the hearts of the family and friends who cherish her memory.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Amelia's life during the visitation on April 1, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels-South in San Antonio, TX, followed by a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM. A Mass will be held on April 2, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, concluding with a burial at San Jose Burial Park at 12:00 PM.

Amelia M. Cantu leaves behind a legacy rich in love, creativity, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
