Ana Sanchez, of San Antonio Texas, passed away on Monday June 10, 2024, she was 80 years young.
Ana was born on December 9, 1943 to Guadalupe Lopez and Candelaria Ibarra Lopez in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. Ana moved to San Antonio, Texas where she met and married Eduardo Sanchez with whom she had two children, Eduardo Sanchez Jr. and Marian Sanchez. She was also the proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren who are Ricardo Mancillas, Mario Vega, Trinity Sanchez, Juliana Sanchez, Edward Sanchez, and Ellynie Sanchez. She was also the loving and proud great grandmother of 1 great grandchild, Jovani Mancillas.
Ana, a devoted mother and grandmother, also worked at St. Luke's Hospital as part of their hospitality staff where she provided exceptional service to all patients and families to ensure their stays were met with welcoming comfort. She started this career path to ensure her daughter, Marian Sanchez could afford to finish her schooling to have her career in the dental field. She loved her job and remained dedicated to her work for over 30 years. Ana, reluctantly, due to the onset of the pandemic, made the difficult decision to retire early so she could spend as much time as she could with family and cherished loved ones.
Ana was a very loving and caring person. Ana with her daughter Marian enjoyed volunteering and working with the Ladies of Valor Empowerment (LOVE) in helping in the community whether it was directly or indirectly. Ana volunteered with the turkey give aways for Thanksgiving for families in need. Ana loved helping with the shoe drive for back to school for school children in need. Ana was always involved with her daughter Marian's life with Pep Squad, in making uniforms for Pep Squad, taking her to football games and events for Pep Squad. She was involved with grand-kids with sports and Cheerleading and great grandson's sports. She was also involved in her grandchildren's academic events and competitions, and always made sure that her children, grandchildren, and great grandson always felt her love and support.
She enjoyed afternoon lunches with family and friends, attending formal dances, and attending church services and church festivities. She loved supporting our city Fiesta events by attending the parades or dancing at Market Square every year. Ana's beautiful smile, fierce fashion sense, and supportive caring nature will be truly missed.
Ana was predeceased by her Father: Guadalupe Lopez, Mother: Candelaria Ibarra Lopez, Brother: Edmundo Lopez, Brother: Jose Lopez, and Sister: Maria Guadalupe Vargas. She is survived by her siblings Feliberta Lopez Gomez, and Ernesto Lopez.
