We are sad to announce the passing of Angelita Ortiz, who died at the age of 84, on March 1, 2024. Angie, resided in San Antonio, Texas and was born June 16, 1939, in Ottawa, Kansas. She was the daughter of Isabel Espinosa and Adrian Espinosa (both deceased).
Angie was happily married to her husband of 59 years, Rito Ortiz, whom she loved and adored until his passing on August 29, 2018. They were meant for each other and had the type of meaningful marriage that should be used as a role model for each of us. They did everything together, always held hands, loved to dance, go to the movies, travel, and never went to bed angry. They moved from Topeka, Kansas to San Antonio, Texas in 1974 along with their four boys, as her husband would be starting a new position with Audie Murphy VA Hospital.
She was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who lived her life to the fullest and always had a positive outlook on life. Her family, whom she embraced with unconditional love, always came first. She had a passion for life and enjoyed cooking, cleaning, walking, reading, shopping, traveling, and being the mother of four boys she was consistently up to date with sports. She was a night owl and looked forward to her late evening phone conversations with her sisters, sons, and grandchildren. Her favorite color was pink, and she treasured her owl collection. She had such a great smile, laughter, and an incredible sense of humor. She was loving, caring, and giving as she was always ready to donate to any local charity or help whoever was in need, as well as provide wise and golden words of advice when asked.
She is survived by her sons: Rito Ortiz, Jr. (Sylvia Ortiz) Austin, Texas, Michael Ortiz (Luisa Ortiz) San Diego, California, Greg Ortiz, San Antonio, Texas, and Ralph Ortiz (Mayra Maggio- Ortiz) San Antonio, Texas. She has 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She loved and adored her four-legged furry grandchildren. Her deceased siblings include Phillip Espinosa, Pauline Zendejas, Carmen Hernandez, Mary Gutierrez, Ethel Garcia, Josephine Garcia, Betty Ybarra, and Virginia Charay. She is survived by Carolyn Gomez, Juanita Chaney, and Clara Espinosa.
As the matriarch of the family, she will always be with us in our hearts and minds, and her legacy continues. The first part of her name is “Angel” and that’s exactly what she has always been to her family, and now she has officially gained her angel wings and will be entering God’s heavenly kingdom. Thank you for being a great daughter, sister, wife, mom, aunt, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. We will forever cherish your childhood memories, our memories with you, your wisdom, and your laughter. We will miss you tremendously. You will never be forgotten, and we will forever love you.
