Ann Beasley Butler, 87, of San Antonio, died on April 21, 2018. Ann was born in Ariton, Alabama, on February 19, 1931, to parents Reverend and Mrs. Harvey Beasley. She grew up in Alabama and then attended Baylor University, where she met and married Ted Butler. Later she graduated from Trinity University with a B.A. at the age of forty. She also acquired a M.A. degree from U.T.S.A. She worked for the Texas Department of Human Resources as Program Director of Child Development and Training and later Program Director for the Aged and Disabled. Ann always said, however, that her greatest accomplishment was rearing her three children.
After retirement, Ann was active in numerous volunteer activities. Her favorite was working as a docent at the McNay Art Museum. She loved to garden, cook, and entertain friends. She also was an active member of Woodland Baptist Church for many years.
She is survived by her children, Melinda Beckett and her husband, Lamont, Richard Butler and his wife Tina, and Julie Beck and her husband Gus Beck; by her grandchildren, Clinton Butler and his wife Patricia, Dustin Butler and his wife Eleanor, August Beck and his wife Crystal, and Annie Shuler and her husband Aric; and by eleven great grandchildren.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 28, at 10 a.m. at Woodland Baptist Church, 15315 Huebner Road. Reverend Garrett Vickrey will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Laurels at Stone Oak for their attention and loving care.
