Augustin (Augie) Paredez, Jr., was called to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. He was born on July 3, 1948 in Beeville, Texas to Augustin and Rafelita (Fela) Paredez. He grew up in San Antonio, Texas and was currently residing in Deer Park, Texas. Augie was an inspiration to all that knew him. He fought a long and courageous 3-year battle with Liver and Bone Cancer. Although his family who remain behind will miss him tremendously, they feel comfort in the knowledge that he will be celebrating everlasting life and is safe and secure in Gods Kingdom. Augie was preceded in death by his parents, Augustin and Rafelita (Fela) Paredez, and his young brother, Ralph. His loving wife of 37 years, Gloria Diane Paredez and his son Gus survive Augie. Also, one brother, Oscar Paredez (Rose); and four sisters, Gloria Paredez Gonzales, Yolanda P. Puente (Willie), Sandy P. Guerrero (Danny), and Rachel Paredez; also his mother-in-law, Nancy Rogers, his brother-in-law Tommy Eldon Rogers and numerous nephews and nieces. Augie was a 1966 graduate of Harlandale High School. He will always be remembered for his love of music. He started playing the trumpet in school and later began playing professionally at a very young age with Danny and the Dreamers, The Playboys, and
Locomotion Band. Augie worked at Kelly AFB for a brief period where he went through the Electrical Apprentice Program in the Directorate of Maintenance. He then served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam. Upon his discharge, he attended college and later went to work in several Construction Companies before taking a job as a Field Engineer for General Electric Corporation. His work offered him the opportunity to travel extensively to various states. He worked for a brief period in St. Croix, Virgin Islands, where he obtained his certificate for scuba diving. He was a hard working man and dedicated father who never hesitated to help others. He loved his family dearly and was a wonderful loving son, brother, husband, father, and a friend too many. Augies happiest times were when he was out in his boat fishing, He spend a long day fishing just three days before his passing. His other hobbies included playing his monthly poker games with his co-workers, and collecting, buying, and selling old coins. He also enjoyed snorkeling and his last vacation was spent snorkeling in St. Croix collecting shells with his wife, sisters, and brother-in-law. Augie touched so many lives and will be missed by all who knew him. His humor, his loyalty, and his great passion for life are many of the things that will be felt as a void by all those who knew him. The family wishes to thank the management staff at General Electric Corporation for all their support during Augies illness.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 24, 2010 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Puente and Sons Funeral Chapels Northeast, 14315 Judson Road, San Antonio, TX 78233, (210) 653-6536.
