Barbara Ann Johnson

May 3, 1934 — September 11, 2018

Barbara Ann Deloach Garcia Johnson, age 84 of Floresville, “stopped percolating” (moms favorite thing to say when asked how are you) on Sept 11, 2018. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia on May 3, 1934 to Edward and Annie Laurie Deloach. Always energetic and spunky she didn’t let a hip fracture late last year slow her down for long. We will always have fond memories of her stubbornly carrying her walker all over instead of putting it on the floor and actually using it. Ultimately another fall and subsequent pelvic fracture 10 days ago contributed to her death. In her early adult life Barbara worked as waitress in Florida where she met her first husband Mike Garcia who was a sailor stationed in Pensacola. Together they raised 4 children before his death in 1988. In 1990 she married Elmer “Jack” Johnson. They enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives around the US. Mr. Johnson passed away in 2001 and Barbara remained a widow up until her death. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her older brother Edward Deloach, Jr. in January 2018 who lived in Georgia. Barbara is survived by her four children, Katherine (Byron) Kirtland, Teresa (Gerardo) Hinojosa, Charles “John” (Deana) Garcia, and Benjamin (Leticia) Garcia, 9 grandchildren, Christopher (Stephanie) Kirtland, Michael (Kelsi) Kirtland, Gabrielle Hinojosa Herrera, Mathew (Mallory) Garcia, Joseph “JJ” Garcia, April Garcia, Priscilla Garcia, Maricela Garcia, and Joshua Garcia, 10 great grandchildren, Clayton, Luke, and Madalynn Kirtland, Ayden, Emma, and Ellie Kirtland, Emmitt, Amerie, and Oliver Garcia, and Madison Garcia Pardo. Barbara is also survived by her younger brother. David Deloach who resides in California. The family expresses their sincere gratitude and appreciation to our mothers loving caregivers and friends Teresa and Julia Greco, Gloria and Iliana Ramirez for all the love, Compassion, and care they gave our mother in the final years of her life.
