Barbara Rosena Schneiderheinz passed on Friday August 9, 2013. Born December 12, 1922 in Belgrade, Nebraska to Benjamin Earl Ceder and Ethel Rosena (Imus) Ceder, Barbara was a 1941 graduate of Genoa High School. After graduation she traveled to California for work returning to Nebraska after a year to work in an ordinance plant in Central City until she enlisted in the Coast Guard in October of 1943 serving until May 1946 attaining the rank of PO1 (Petty Officer 1st Class, SK1). Upon her return to civilian life she met her life-long love, Earl Joseph Schneiderheinz and they married on December 29, 1947. Barbara continued to work outside the home until the birth their son. She and Earl left Nebraska for Florida in 1956, eventually moving to Fort Worth in 1957 where they resided until 1970. At that time they moved to Amarillo for 10 years where they both operated a branch office for Hantover, Inc. before finally settling in San Antonio and retiring. Barbara and Earl were avid travelers visiting Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, and Italy. The visited all the continental United States, but particularly enjoyed their trips to Reno and Las Vegas for whirlwind gambling adventures often serving as guides for friends and family. Barbara was active in the Ladies Auxiliary for the Knights of Columbus, council 7965. She and Earl were longtime members of St. Helena Catholic Church. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Howard and Eugene. She is survived by her son August, daughter-in-law Maureen, granddaughters Margaret and Meredith of San Antonio; her sister Beverly Schmer of Richardson, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at Puente and Sons Funeral Chapel at 6:00 PM Wednesday October 23, 2013.
