Beverly was born in Hughes Springs, Texas on July 12, 1955 to Ida Merle Alexander and James Cheatham. She moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1966. She was the oldest of seven children. She was contacted by Jehovahs Witnesses in the door to door work in 1971. She then began her search for Bible truths by studying with Jehovahs Witnesses. She was baptized in December of 1973 and served Jehovah loyally for over 36 years. During that time, she served as a regular pioneer for a total of 12 years and 10 months. Beverlys love for Jehovah led her to share her knowledge of the Bible with her siblings, nieces, nephews, foster children, mother and father. This led to several of her family members coming into the truth over the years. Beverly also loved the Bible study work and often spent time throughout the week and on weekends conducting bible studies with young people. She enjoyed traveling and meeting friends from other countries. During yearly assemblies and conventions she introduced herself to friends and often spent her lunch break getting to know them. She also enjoyed listening to music and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her nephew, Rueben Jacob Richardson and stepfather, Lucius Clay Smith, Sr. She is survived by her mother, Ida Merle Smith and father, James Cheatham; sisters, Pamela Joyce, Janet Kay, Tonya Denise, and Michelle Renee Alexander; brothers, Lucius Clay Smith, Jr. and Derrick Dion Smith; nieces, Whitney Nicole and Rachel Monique Richardson, Kendra D.
