Brian Joseph Mutchler

August 11, 1961 — November 25, 2021

Brian Mutchler, 60, of Alamo Heights passed away November 25, 2021 as a result of 26-month battle with clear cell renal carcinoma. His wife and brother (Mark) were by his side holding his hands when he drifted off to be with the Lord.
He was a kind, thoughtful and compassionate soul with an awesomely wicked sense of humor. Brian was the supervisor of the carpenter and painter shop at Southwest Research Institute where he was employed for the past 16 years. He was a master carpenter of 40 years and self-taught wood turning where he created many unique and original pieces. Brian was a passionate hunter and fisherman. He proudly served in the US Army as a Sergeant, decorated Combat Veteran and received an honorable discharge. Brian volunteered for Desert Storm, Desert Shield and Provide Comfort campaigns. He was also proud in his participation and completion the Nijmegen Four Day March and shot Top Gun WTA while stationed in Germany.
Brian is survived by his wife Kathryn; parents Alfred and Ruby Mutchler; his four brothers James (Vickie) of Dubai, UAE; Gregory (Naomi) of Leaky; Mark (Suzanne) of Denver, Co; Michael (Julie Gunn) of San Antonio; Goddaughter Cristine Mutchler Stock of San Antonio; Godsons Christopher Mutchler of Austin and Joshua Mutchler of the Dallas area; two estranged daughters, not by his choice, Lacey and Robin of San Antonio; sister in law Elizabeth Cardenas of San Antonio; mother in law Ann N Henry of San Antonio and numerous loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of beloved friends.
