Candace Yvonne Ellington Christiansen

Candace Yvonne Ellington Christiansen was 59 years old, born on February 22, 1951 in Ft. Worth, TX. Candace was adopted by Allen and Esther Ellington. She passed away in San Antonio, TX on December 9, 2010 of ovarian cancer. Candace received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education/ Music. She became a Registered Nurse in 1979, after attending Angelo State University. Candace also did post-baccalaureate studies at the University of San Antonio in piano performance, piano pedagogy, and psychology. Even in the midst of adversity, she remained an inspiring and influential piano teacher.

Candace was a loving mother of three children, survived by them and their spouses: Corey and Tamra Christiansen, Shara and Bobby Benavides, and Eric and Cindy Christiansen. She was the greatest Grammy, also survived by her seven grandchildren: Brittany, Caitlin, Leila, Beckham, Collin, Abigail, and Judah. She is also survived by her mother, Esther, and her brothers, Randy and Cody Ellington as well as her Aunt Artie and family.

The Memorial service to celebrate Candaces life will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 3:00 pm at University United Methodist, located at 5084 De Zavala Road, San Antonio, TX 78249.
