Carlos Martinez

Carlos "Charo" Martinez passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 13, 2022, at the age of 84. He is preceded in death by his son Edgar A. Martinez, parents Consuelo Martinez and J. Refugio Baeza, and grandson-in-law Terry Burns. Carlos is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Enriqueta Martinez, and children: Juana E. Martinez, Carlos A. Martinez (Maria de la Luz), Brenda Whited (Stephen), and Maribel E. Martinez (Jorge). Grandchildren Geraldine E. Rodriguez-Smith (David), Carlos B. Martinez, Alejandro Martinez (Leslie), Brenda G. Burns (Matt), Carlos E. Sanchez (Sara), Scott Whited (Teeda), Ian Whited, Rosemary (Stephen), Isaac Santiago, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Carlos was born in Celaya, Guanajuato Mexico on December 18, 1937. He attended a technical school where he studied commerce. He was an extremely hard worker, at 16 years old he started working as an assistant at an engineering firm. Later in life, he had a successful career as a bank accountant and served as the Chief Inspector of Finance for several counties in Mexico eventually retiring from the National Palace in Mexico. After retirement, he became a math teacher and with his wife opened two schools: Instituto de Turismo del Bajio (a university) and Instituto Amsterdam (a technical school). Together they helped thousands of students achieve their goals and become successful members of society.

Carlos was a brilliant, loving, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His favorite thing in the world was spending time surrounded by his family. He loved listening to music and teaching his grandchildren to play dominos and chinese checkers. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
