Carolina Burgess

Our beloved Carolina Burgess entered into the arms of our Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at the age of 69. She passed away after a short illness in the comfort of her own home with her husband and daughter by her side as she wished.

Carol was born on February 3, 1951 in Muzquiz, Coahuilla to Juan and Carolina Benavides. She married her loving husband, Brian Burgess, on June 30, 1981, and they spent almost 39 wonderful years together in San Antonio, Texas.

Carol had a passion caring for others. She spent the majority of her career as a daycare attendant caring for infant babies. She loved her job, her co-workers, and the children she cared for. Children always brought her joy and purpose. She lived for being a mother and grandmother. She experienced true happiness when she was around “her girls”. Her grandchildren lit up her face and spirit and she looked forward to seeing them every weekend.

Carol had a simplicity and contentment in life that others would envy. She put her daily priority in being present with family and showing others love. She made a difference in so many hearts. Carol lit up the room with her beautiful smile and laugh, she will be deeply missed by many.

She is survived by her spouse Brian Burgess; daughter Melissa (Wade) Pack, granddaughters, Addyson and Whitlee; brother Emilio (Gloria) Benavides; sisters, Lupe Ortiz, Lilia Hernandez, and Gracie (Sam) Wong; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends from Bo-Peep Learning Center that she loved as family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Carolina Benavides, brothers Arturo, Jose Manuel, and Juan Benavides.

We will always carry her memory close in our hearts. We know Carol is with our heavenly Father and look forward to seeing her again one day.

Services will be held on Thursday June 4, 2020 at 11:00 at Concordia Lutheran Church. Services will be streamed online for those not able to attend in person.
