Carolyn B. Dewalt

.Carolyn Beth Strawn De Walt was born October 28, 1940 in San Antonio Texas to Weldon and Katherine Strawn. She entered the Heavenly Kingdom on March 26, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Robert “Buddy” De Walt, her three children, daughters, Dr. Adrianne Vaughn, husband Michael, Anneliese, son Eric De Walt, wife Suzanne, and her five grandchildren, Ian and Ryan Vaughn, Josie, Lily and Sammy De Walt, and her two sisters, Madeline Rendon, husband John, and Katherine Courtney, husband Ed.
Carolyn attended Sacred Heart Catholic elementary school, and graduated from Providence Catholic High School, class of 1958. She then worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co.
She was married to Robert “Buddy” De Walt on August 19, 1961.
In later years, she owned, managed and ran the family business, Candy Cane Children’s Center for twenty six years. “Miss Carolyn” and her staff, cared for, educated, and influenced hundreds of children.
Carolyn and her family were members of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, where she served on the school board, the Outreach Ministry, and as a teacher’s aide. She also supported her husband in his AL Zafar Shrine Clowning activities, and belonged to the “Nemnuf” ladies unit.
Carolyn will be remembered as a loving person whose Catholic faith came first, and her family and grandchildren were her “Crown Jewels”, and entire happiness.
The memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou (intersection of Callaghan and Manitou, just inside Loop 410), Saturday, April 11, at 1 P.M. Informal reception to follow.
Carolyn’s wishes were, in lieu of flowers she requested that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105
