Casimiro (Casey) Quiroz

December 16, 1937 – October 9, 2020

Casimiro Quiroz Jr., the patriarch of his family, was born in San Antonio, Texas to Casimiro Quiroz and Esperanza Garcia. He was married to Genevieve Castillo for 67 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking and telling stories of his childhood. He enjoyed caring for and rocking three generations of babies to sleep. His life lesson was that family always came first and a family that eats together, stays together.

He was a member of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He served as St. Leo’s CYO President and St. Leo’s Catholic School PTA President during his children’s grade school years, while also coaching their baseball teams. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in August of 1967. He taught classes at San Antonio Community College on international trucking commerce, using his 25 years of trucking experience. When he retired from trucking, he became an entrepreneur and started a few truck forwarding brokerages, in which he was President and CEO. He worked with border brokers moving products from Mexico to the US to Canada, utilizing NAFTA. During this time, he traveled often to Mexico and took his family along with him for a family vacation as well. He loved to give his family travel experiences. He often took trips with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to Garner State Park where they created lifelong memories. Casimiro loved to serve the Lord. He attended and was a board member of St. Helena’s Catholic Church. He attended Oblate Seminary and became a Hospice Chaplain. He visited the sick and dying, praying for them and their families alike. He facilitated many bible studies at Grace Place Alzheimer’s Activity Facility. He also officiated weddings and baptisms. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening in his and his daughter, Anna’s backyard.

Casimiro is survived by his daughter, Linda Brambila, and his son, Richard Quiroz. 4 Grandchildren: Robert Martinez, Jennifer Carriedo, Julie Martinez, and David Quiroz. 7 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.
