The world has lost a shining light with the passing of Celia R. Martinez on June 13, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on August 7, 1941, in Bayside, Texas, Celia lived a life filled with passion and dedication.
Celia dedicated two decades of her life to U.T. Health Science Center before retiring, a career that she cherished and was immensely proud of. Her work ethic and commitment inspired many and left a lasting impact on those around her.
Beyond her professional life, Celia found joy in dancing and traveling. Her love for these activities brought color and vibrancy to her life, creating beautiful memories that will be cherished forever. She had a special place in her heart for sports, cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs with unwavering enthusiasm.
In the loving memory of those who have passed before her, Celia joins her husband Ricardo R. Martinez, mother Lydia C. Sanchez, father Daniel Ramon, brothers Joe Ramon and Juan Alameda, niece Sandra Acosta, and brothers-in-law George Acosta Sr., and Juan Yzquierdo.
Although Celia's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, she leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue to inspire future generations. She is survived by her son Daniel D. Carlee (Mercedes), grandsons: Daniel D. Carlee Jr (Jessica), Benjamin D. Carlee (Sam), Stephen M. Carlee (Ariel), her daughter: Cynthia Tabuchi (Danny), grandsons: Michael Garcia (Ale), Bryan Garcia, Alex Tabuchi, her stepdaughter: Brenda M. Davis (James), step-granddaughters: Lauren Davis, Madison Davis, her stepson: Anthony Martinez and numerous great-grandchildren. Siblings: Matilda Acosta, Richard Ramon (Brenda), Belinda Gonzales (Sonny), Tony Alameda (Julie), Lisa Yzquierdo and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her caregivers: Wendy Rendon and Norma Vasquez.
A visitation will be held on June 18th from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a chapel service at 2:00pm at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels-South in San Antonio for family and friends to pay their respects. One of Celia's final wishes was for her friends and family to wear white in celebration of her life; please join us in honoring Celia's memory dressed in white.
Celia's legacy lives on through the memories she created and the lives she touched along the way. May she rest in eternal peace knowing she was deeply loved and will always be remembered fondly by those whose lives she graced.
