Charles Henry Schneider

Charles Henry Schneider was surrounded by his wife and children when he was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on August 8, 2011. Born April 21, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, he was the son of Adolf Lee and Elna Alberthal Schneider. His grandparents, Heinrich and Johanette Hain Schneider and Henry and Lena Langehennig Alberthal were all residents of Fredericksburg. Charles is survived by his wife of 17 years, Jackie Filter Schneider and his children, step-children and 22 grandchildren plus 5 great-grandchildren. His children: sons Jeff Schneider of Bulverde and Pat Welch and wife Wende of Rockport; daughters, Susan Schneider Cole, Boerne and Marlene Schneider Keller and her husband Donny of Bulverde. Step-children include, Joey Pizzini and wife Ellen of Land O’Lakes, Florida; Kimi Pizzini Kravitz and husband Sammy of La Vernia and Katy Pizzini Bukowski and husband Walter of Gruene. Grandchildren include: Devin Keller, Kirsten Keller, Jerad Schneider, Jordyn Schneider, Chase and Conner Cole, Tiffany Boubel, Ashley Dickenson, Kristen Welch, Jessica Segerra, Haley Pizzini, Garrett Pizzini, Biancha Pizzini, Kimi Bukowski, Grace Bukowski, Allison Bukowski, Jonathan Bukowski, Aimi Freeman, Nick Goodspeed, Samantha Kravitz, Meg Kravitz, and Astrud Kravitz. Great-grandchildren: Dawson, Shelby, Joslyn, Chloe and Klarisa. Charles is also survived by his two four-legged daughters, his puppies, Sara and Maggie. Charles graduated from Burbank High School in San Antonio. He served his country in the U.S. Army at Ft. Riley, Kansas and Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He worked for 40+ years as a HVAC designer in engineering firms in San Antonio and Kerrville. He retired in 2001 and enjoyed working around his hill country home. He had many types of woodworking hobbies. A service celebrating his life will be held at the Cherry Mountain School House on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 11 AM. 2866 Cherry Mountain Loop near Fredericksburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pipe Creek Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 63140, Pipe Creek, TX 78063. The first responders from the fire department came to the house to be with him until EMS could arrive on several occasions as well as the fire fighters when the house was hit by lightning.

Driving Directions to Cherry Mountain School House: Once you are on Main Street in Fredericksburg proceed west until you reach the fork of US 290 and US 87, stay on US 87 and go 4.9 miles then turn right on Cherry Mountain Loop (sign may say Gypsum Mine Rd too). Go 2.3 miles on Cherry Mountain Loop to another fork, take left road which is Cherry Mountain Loop, continue for 0.5 mile and the schoolhouse will be on the right.
