Charles "Wayne" Moore

August 22, 1948 — April 8, 2016

Charles "Wayne" Moore was born 8/22/48 and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on 4/8/16 at the age of 67.

Wayne was born in Waco, Texas, the only child of Willis and Verna Moore. He attended Magnolia High School in El Dorado, Arkansas and the University of Texas in Austin. He was a longtime businessman in San Antonio, serving as a past President of the San Antonio Life Underwriters Association and was active for many years with the Texas Folklife Festival.

Wayne never met a stranger, was a great storyteller, and had a quick wit. He had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, having visited all 50 states. He also loved to hunt, snow ski and go on cruises with his family and friends.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 28 years Sheila Duncan Moore, his beloved daughter Christina McKay Mank-Allen and her husband Price Allen, and granddaughter and light of his life, Riley McKay Mank, and their sons Grant and Brett Allen.

He is also survived by stepson Brian Borlinghaus and his children, Thomas, Amy and Jef, stepson Scott Borlinghaus, his wife Jennifer and their children Haylie and Emma and his stepdaughter April Mayrath, her husband Michael and son Miles. He is also survived by his "brother" John Chaddick and longtime friend Marvin Walker.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 15 at 1:00 PM at Northwood Presbyterian Church located at 518 Pike Rd. A small reception will follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Wayne’s memory to The START Center for Cancer Care in South Texas at 4383 Medical Dr., San Antonio, TX 78229.
