Christene C. Bitzkie

Christene C. Bitzkie born February 17, 1919 entered into the loving arms of her beloved son, Bob McGinnis, her husband Clarence Bitzkie, and brother Rudy Carrasco September 3, 2008. She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, Christene worked for Southern Pacific Railroads where she met and married her husband Clarence. In 1950 Christene was employed as a secretary at Arthur E. Baird Real Estate Co. Mr. Baird saw her potential and encouraged her to pursue her career in real estate. She was a well-respected Realtor in San Antonio for over 50+ years. One of her great achievements was the selling of the Robert E. Lee Hotel and numerous HEB Locations. In 1971 she and her two partners acquired Mr. Bairds Real Estate Co. and in 1976 sold the company to her son Bob McGinnis. After the death of her son Bob in 1979, she remained active helping her daughter-in-law continue running the business and raising her four grandchildren. They were the love of her life. Christene is survived by her grandchildren, Scott, Maureen, Michelle, and Stewart McGinnis; 8 great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Marie McGinnis-Mercure.

A celebration of her life will be held, Friday, October 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., St. Lukes Catholic Church with Fr. Pete McKenna Officiating.
