Christina Stephanie Montero, 42, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 25, 2022.
Christina was born on July 25, 1980 to Juan and Gladys Montero in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Christina graduated from Madison High School in 1999 and she went on to study American Sign
Language at San Antonio College.
After graduating with a degree in ASL, she began her career in the nonprofit sector where she translated
for those in legal and financial needs. She continued her ASL journey, signing for children during their
education years, from elementary through college; while traveling and translating in concerts and
festivals throughout California.
It was here that she met her partner, Jonathan Reyes, and raised their two beloved dogs, Sunshine and
Shadow.
Christina was an old soul and possessed an energy that children and animals gravitated towards. She
was the one children came running up to with open arms, when entering a room. Known as the Gypsy;
a name given to her by Aunt Ruby, she was a free spirit that loved adventures and spent most of her
time outdoors; hiking, camping, and swimming. Christina had no worry; she was the one experiencing
the world and life, with no care; often leaving us scratching our heads. Christina traveled to Paris,
Germany, Hawaii, all on a whim; embodying her motto: Enjoy Life.
Christina was fun loving, outgoing, and vivacious. When you think of her, celebrate the good memories
and remember, life is fragile, short and should be lived to the fullest. Christina will be missed more than
any words could express but she will forever be in our hearts till we meet again.
Christina will always be remembered with much love by her father, Juan (Jean) Montero; mother Gladys
(Ruben) Montero; sister Rachel (Carlos) Montero; two brothers Michael Montero and Joseph (Clareece)
Montero; nephew Carlos Ortiz; two uncles Raphael (Ruby) Montero, Alfonso Flores; partner, Jon Reyes
and a host of deeply-saddened cousins, extended family and friends. She also leaves behind Sunshine
and Shadow, who are now missing their favorite person.
Christina is preceeded in death by her grandmothers Filomena Rivera and Frances Flores, aunt Martha
Flores, uncles Albert Depree, Jeffrey Flores and Sixto Martinez, cousin Gary Flores and beloved dog,
Sorda.
Her celebration of life will be held at Puente and Sons Funeral and Chapels located at 14315 Judson Rd
in San Antonio TX on Monday, September 5, 2022. Viewing will be held from 1pm-3pm with services to
follow.
