Clarence \"Melvin\" Hoffman went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the age of 81. He was born in Waco TX on July 8, 1929 but moved to Victoria TX at the age of 6. While considering Victoria his hometown, he spent the last 8 1/2 years in New Braunfels, TX living with his daughter, Debra Watson and her husband Mark. Besides his daughter and son-in-law, Melvin is survived by 2 sons, Clarence David Hoffman of Hurst TX and Daniel Maurice Hoffman of San Antonio TX. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Hayley (Jonathan) Platt, Jeremy Rother, Britt (Kelli) Watson, Kara (Len) Driskell, Tracy Hoffman, 9 great-grandchildren and brothers Jeddie Royce, Ronald Wayne, Billy Lee Hoffman and a sister Lou (Bob) Price as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Clarence and Bessie Lee Hoffman. Melvin was a Master Electrician working along beside his father and brothers at Hoffman Electric in Victoria in his early years and he later founded Central Electric. He served in the army during the Korean War, was a lifetime member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and a member of Dayspring Christian Fellowship Church in New Braunfels. For the last 4 years he loved going to My Friends Haus adult daycare where he was loved by many friends and staff. The family would like to especially thank the staff at My Friends Haus for making him feel so special.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Dayspring Christian Fellowship on Saturday, May 7 at 11:00 with lunch to follow.
