Constance Ann Kainer Kuykendall, 62 of San Antonio, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2016 with her family by her side. Connie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. Throughout her lifelong battle with cancer, Connie maintained an unfailing positive attitude and strong sense of gratitude. Although she could have easily complained, Connie chose only to look for blessings in her life and spoke of them often. Connie was born September 21, 1953 in San Antonio to Charles N. and Catherine Kainer. One of nine children, Connie grew up in a bustling home full of love, laughter and appreciation for family. Connie attended St. John Elementary and was a 1971 graduate of Providence High School. On October 30, 1976 Connie married the love of her life, Michael Stephen Kuykendall. Married for over 39 years, Connie and Michael took great joy in raising their sons Steven and Matthew. Later, Connie and Michael became grandparents and learned the joy of spending countless hours with their beautiful granddaughters Precious and Alena. Connie was employed with IES Commercial for over 23 years where she was a valued employee. She enjoyed travelling with Michael and spending time with family. If a family gathering had a band and a dance floor, there Connie would be, in the middle of all the fun. Those who knew Connie can attest to her devotion to her family and her Catholic faith. Confident in her Lord, Connie allowed Him to handle all of her concerns. A long-time member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Connie gave of herself as a Eucharistic Minister for 15 years. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and Charles Kainer; father-in-law, Gerald Kuykendall; sister-in-law, Suzanne Kuykendall; niece, Lindsey Middleton; and nephew, Brian Lorenz. She is survived by husband, Michael Kuykendall; sons, Steven Kuykendall (Bonnie) and Matthew Kuykendall; granddaughters, Precious Mesa and Alena Kuykendall; mother-in-law, Blanche Kuykendall; siblings, Carol (Ken) Lorenz; Chuck (Katherine)Kainer; Claude (Ann)Kainer; Carroll John (Doreen) Kainer; Chris Kainer; Clarence (Mary) Kainer; Cathy (Mike) Manzi; and Craig (Colleen) Kainer. The family thanks Doctors Garner, Beeram, Moyoral, Smallings and Hudnall as well as the many nurses and medical staff that have cared for Connie over the years.
