Dale L . Thompson, born August 31, 1947 to Gordon K. and Juanita J. Thompson, passed away April 29, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas. Dale was a loving father to his daughters, Dana Lenzo and Deanna Oberheu. Dana and Vince are the parents of Dalton and Adam, two of Dale’s four grandsons. Deanna and Todd are the parents of Grant and Ty, who were all much loved by Grandpa Dale. Dale is also survived by his two brothers, Steven Thompson of Portland, Orgeon and David Thompson, of Grapevine, Texas. Dale was an Army brat who lived in Germany (1948-1950), Japan (1953-1954), France (1958-1960) and other U.S. locations, including Ft. Huachuca, Arizona and Washington D.C. Dale’s family settled in El Paso, Texas in 1963 after his dad’s retirement from the Army. He attended Andres High School, graduating in 1965. Dale married his high school sweetheart in 1968 and divorced in 1990. Dale’s career included working for Firestone, owning a hardware store, and managing a grocery store. Yielding to a dream, Dale moved to San Antonio and pursued an art career for 3 years. He achieved success in several states as well as several countries in Europe. Nine national and local publications recognized his achievements. In 1993, Dale set aside his art to work for CitiBank, from which he retired in 2013. His love of antiques and collectibles helped fill his spare time and became his full-time hobby after retirement. Dale will be missed by many.
