Daniel Castro Diaz, age 66, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at home surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Rafaela Diaz; father Guadalupe Diaz. Daniel is survived by his mother, Maria Diaz Martinez of Littlefield, Texas; children Anita Diaz of Levelland, Texas, Daniel "Chato" Diaz, and Angelica Martinez both of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren Donavan Lee Jaramillo, Rene De La Vega, Chloee Martinez, Antonio Torres, Brandon Torres, Marcus Diaz, Isabella Diaz, Nicholas Diaz; and great grandson Donavan "DJ" Jaramillo Jr.; siblings Joe Diaz, Vicky Solano, Pete Diaz, Antonio Martinez, Anselmo Martinez, Alonso Martinez, Olga Martinez, Mary Ann Martinez, Timmy Diaz, Carmella Diaz, Bobby Diaz. Daniel was born in Matador, Texas on February 7, 1952, and grew up in Uvalde, Texas around the Frio River. He worked as a Metal Fabricator and welder for over 40 years. Although he had to stop attending school at an early age to begin working to help support his family, he was an extremely smart man. He accepted no excuses, and didn't put up with B.S., or tolerate anyone without common sense. He squeezed the "F" word into everyday conversation, and had no problem calling you out and telling it like it is. Daniel was a gun enthusiast, and enjoyed playing softball. He won a ASA State Championship in 1989 as a member of Midnight Express. We will always love that grouchy old man. Pops, we're gonna miss you. See you later.
