David James De Hoyos

February 22, 1959 — August 19, 2022

David James DeHoyos was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 22, 1959. His family moved to Southern California when he was two years old where he lived until he and his wife Patricia relocated San Antonio in March of 2021. David was a loving husband, friend and a soulmate who always supported his wife in her ambitions. David was an outstanding provider and caregiver for his mother and his entire family. He was a wonderful friend and neighbor to everyone that he met. He never met a stranger as he was always lending a helping hand to those in need.

He was a great father who loved his children unconditionally. “I Love You So Much with all my heart dad, not a day goes by that I don’t think of you. – Katrina DeHoyos. “Dad, always on my mind – forever in my heart” – DeAnna DeHoyos. “My Father: My father is a man like no other. He believed in me, protected me, shouted at me, strengthened me, but most of all he loved me unconditionally.” -Ethan DeHoyos

David was a die-hard Dodger fan. To share a humorous story… During baseball seasons, you would often see David dressed in his Dodger blues. Whether he was outside barbequing or in the garage tinkering with something he would often have multiple TVs on throughout the house. This was so that he does not miss a play, especially a homerun. In most cases he would be concerned about the electric bill but not during baseball season. When we lived in Los Angeles, during baseball season he would go to many baseball games with his wife, with his children, with his friends – sometimes all together. He goes all out during baseball season he breaks out all the baseball memorabilia and he and his son Ethan have both caught baseballs during the games on multiple occasions. Speaking of fun times, I am sure that many of you know and remember that David was a world famous barbeque master. He even took a class recently on how to barbeque briskets and he purchased an Oklahoma Joe barbeque pit to ensure that he gets it right.

David began working at a very young age. It was by his work that he was able to care for his family, his loved ones and so many others who entered his life. More recently, David worked for Industrial Assets Machinery. After departing Industrial Assets, just last year, David joined Southern Fabricating Machinery Sales, working remotely, where they were quickly impressed by his professionalism, humor, and humbleness, proving himself to be an adept and valuable team player.

After his recent relocation from Southern California back to San Antonio, David and Patricia began establishing roots in their new home where they ventured to provide longterm care for his elderly mother. During this time, they found their new church where David became a very active member of Rolling Oaks Baptist Church in San Antonio where his growth in the body of Christ was nearing his becoming a deacon of the church before God called him home. David James DeHoyos was called home in the early morning of August 19, 2022, peacefully yet unexpectedly in his sleep at 63 years of age. David was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Ramon Rudolph DeHoyos. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Margaret Lydia DeHoyos, his wife, Mrs. Patricia Gilmore DeHoyos, his three children: Katrina DeHoyos, DeAnna DeHoyos and Ethan DeHoyos, his two brothers: Mr. Ramon R. DeHoyos and Miguel “Mike” DeHoyos and various other loved ones, family members and friends.
