Deborah Barnett Garcia born in Poteet Texas on March 6, 1955 to the late Harold William Barnett and Beatrice Jean Gustamante passed away March 29, 2014 in Miami, Florida . She graduated from Harlandale High School and received a Music Scholarship. She worked with Campus Life while in high school where she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. On September 4, 1975 she married Rudy Garcia and in this union was gifted with a beautiful daughter, Vanessa. After being married, she and Rudy moved to Los Angeles, California where she sang with the Vocals of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. After returning to San Antonio, Texas they relocated to Miami and became members of Greater First Church of Deliverance, under the leadership of Pastor Mary Edwards where she served as the church secretary, choir member, Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Instructor and Church Musician. She was the President of the Youth Department and initiated many youth and church activities. She was a faithful worker for Miami Youth for Christ, K.I.X., the Juvenile Justice, Children’s Home Society and also served as a teacher’s aide for Christ Fellowship Academy. In her commitment to the ministry, with love she touched the lives of many and in return she received a greater portion of love from many family and friends. Those who knew her realized that she was no respecter of persons. In her God-given wisdom, she gave guidance and instruction according to the Word of God. She leaves a GREAT Legacy. She may be gone but she will never be forgotten. She leaves to mourn a devoted husband, Rudy; a loving daughter, Vanessa; one sister, Sylvia (Hector); four brothers, Roger Dean, William, Richard (Dana), and Walter (Karen); father-in-law, Miguel Alameda Garcia; sister-in-law, Diana Marie Gutierrez (Raymond); brothers-in-law, Miguel V. Garcia (Yolanda), George V. Garcia (Susie); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
