Dorothea Isabella Heredia

Dorothea Heredia, 87, of Live Oak, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 17th, 2024. She was born on Tuesday, November 3rd, 1936 in Munich, Germany to Johanna Waizmann. She is the oldest of two children with one brother, Wolfgang Rothe, that still resides in Germany. 

 Born in the midst of World War II, she was raised along side her cousin, Jutta Mussner, by her mother, Mutte, and her aunt, affectionately called Mama. In a country ravaged by war, she married young, having her first child, Robert Lorenze, at the early age of 17.  Following this, and a complicated divorce, she met and married an American GI, and had her first daughter, Patricia Rojas, eventually leaving the only home she had ever known to settle with her little family in the United States. There, she spent her life dedicated to her daughter and to creating a life for them in the US. She married Alvaro Heredia later in life on May 9, 1984. Her days were spent dedicated to her daughter, her husband, and eventually, her only granddaughter. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, reading, and drinking coffee with a side of dessert with her loved ones. Despite spending more than half of her life in the United States, Dorothea ensured that her family not only remembered but cherished their heritage and spent her life showing them the beauty of the culture and the country she once called home. Family and close friends will remember her for her fierce will, independence and uncompromising morals. Her life and myriad of experiences, all of them complicated though ultimately beautiful, could have filled the pages of a novel. She will no doubt be remembered by all of those lucky enough to have known her. 

Dorothea leaves behind her husband, Alvaro Heredia, one daughter, Patricia Rojas, one son, Robert Lorenze, and granddaughter, Alexsandra Drinnon, to cherish her memory.  Services will be held to honor and celebrate her life on August 31st, at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapel Northeast, between 1 and 3 pm.
