Dorothy Mae James Walden was born in San Antonio, TX on August 24, 1918, and went home to be with her Lord on November 29, 2014 at the age of 96. She was raised in Oklahoma City, OK, the only child of Edna and Raymond James. After High School graduation, she attended Columbia School Of Broadcasting in Chicago, IL. On September 4, 1937 she married Benton (Buddy) Walden of Ft. Worth, TX. The Walden's moved back to San Antonio, TX where Mr. Walden owned and operated Southwestern Engraving Company. At ten years of age, Mrs. Walden placed her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and soon became an enthusiastic disciple, student and well known teacher of the Bible. She taught Sunday School classes at Trinity Baptist Church, Northwest Park Baptist Church, and then at Castle Hills First Baptist Church. She also taught a ladies’ group at His Hill Bible Retreat and many other speaking engagements for women throughout the state of Texas. In 1965 she began a radio ministry titled, “Let’s Have A Visit” that she maintained for 18 years on KDRY Christian radio. As an outgrowth of that initial ministry she and her husband established a monthly prayer breakfast under the same title that they hosted for 25 years as well as a weekly Bible study at the Wedgewood Apartments, also for 25 years. Even in her retirement and declining health Mrs. Walden continued to teach others wonderful truths from the Bible at her home in Comfort, Texas where many guests came to visit and share Christian fellowship with her. At the age of 94 Mrs. Walden wrote and published her first book titled, “Let’s Have A Visit” and in 2014 at the age of 96 completed her second book “Let’s Have Another Visit.” Both books contain true stories of lives transformed by the power of Christ and His word as told to audiences at the Walden's ministry venues. The second book is still being edited, and will be available through her website at www.letshaveavisit.com. Much more could be said about Dorothy Mae Walden, but first and foremost is her love of Jesus Christ and her life long desire to share His love with others. Dorothy Mae will be loved and greatly missed by her family: son Tommy Walden and wife Carolyn, son David Walden and wife Kathy, Grandchildren, Brad and Wendy Walden, Craig and Carrie Walden, Jeremy and Michelle Walden, Becky and Brandon Aly, Tammy Rice, and Great Grandchildren, Zach, Cade, Justen, Jaycee Walden and Brooke Aly. Dorothy Mae was respected and love by friends too numerous to mention, but we hope and pray for Jesus quick return for the rest of His Church. See you at the Rapture!
