Dr. Richard A. Mamula

July 4, 1943 — February 24, 2025

San Antonio, Texas

Dr. Richard A. Mamula age 81, "passed away at home peacefully" with his wife by his side in San Antonio, Texas on February 24, 2025.

Richard was born on July 4, 1943 in East Chicago, Lake County, IN.  He was the Beloved son of Michael and Irene Mamula.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Irene Mamula and Brothers David and Larry Mamula.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Theola Mamula, his brother Paul and wife Patricia Mamula of Minnesota, many nephews and nieces, and a host of special friends who were his Angels: Pat Sparks, Jason H., Cory and Rochelle Wade and Dorand Sanders.

Richard worked tirelessly for his clients.  He worked tirelessly in a career that expanded for 51 years in Mental Health, Psychology and as a LCSW.  Richard always said that with all his accomplishments in Academia, the greatest thing ever did in his life was accepting God as his Savior and Lord.   He was a devoted husband and devoted to his clients.  Richard fought for people who could not fight for themselves.  He was the voice for those who did not have a voice to speak.

We ask you at this time to remember not the end of his life but remember how he lived his life.  Remember his smile, his love for people, and his compassion for people and his laughter.

There is a void he left in his family and friends whose lives he touched.  When you think of Richard A. Mamula, think of how he loved God and people.  Richard gave hope to those without hope.  He was always ready to help.

He enjoyed reading, music, dancing, Loving, and caring.  He was a talented author.  He loved writing, going to community plays, the opera, watching old movies and traveling with his wife.

There will be no services or viewing.  There will be a Celebration of Life at Brackenridge Park (benches near the train) on March 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the afternoon.  Not to say Goodbye but to say Thank You Richard!
