Ed Reed, 82, of Wellington, Florida, died on Sunday, July 22, 2012 in San Antonio, TX. Ed was born in Bloomington, Illinois to the late Philip and Loretta Reed. He was the youngest of four children, graduated from Holy Trinity High School, and attended the University of St. Thomas. He was a Korean War veteran. He raised his seven children in Norwalk, CT before relocating to Wellington , FL. Throughout his life, he was an executive in the publishing industry, leading marketing and distribution functions for Fawcett Publications, CBS Publications and Globe Communications. He was preceded in death by Joan, his loving wife of 54 years. He is survived by his children: Loretta Reed of Chicago, IL, Diane (Robert) Niemiec of San Antonio, TX, Edward Reed, Jr (Gail Barber-Reed) of Norwalk, CT, Matthew Reed of Boynton Beach, FL, Mark Reed of Irvine, CA, Kate Reed (Arlene Kaspik) of Carpentersville, IL, and Maureen (James) Pittman of Greenacres, FL. His surviving grandchildren are: Whitney, Kristen, and Jimmy Pittman and Stephanie, Alyssa and Emma Niemiec. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family and God, his love of card games, Notre Dame Football, and water aerobics and his passion for golf.
