Edward Roland Valdez

June 9, 1947 — March 23, 2020

In the early morning hours of March 23,2020 the life of our beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin & Friend was taken from us. His departure from this world came shockingly too soon to the disbelief of all who knew and loved him. He was a singular individual, a rare find, true patriot, religiously faithful and devoted to family and friends alike. He was marked by many characteristics but chief among them was his generosity. Almost to a fault my Father gave to any and all who asked him. He did so at great expense to himself, with little to no thought for his own comfort.
It was his way to be sacrificial and large hearted. But his life was also marked by an extreme privacy. He was a private man and likewise respected reverently the privacy of others. Those who knew him knew this well.
He was also known for his fun loving nature. Ever in the mood for a party. He was a ready friend. He could be spontaneous and playful. His friendly, playful, humble, down to earth, jokester self was what his grandchildren loved best about him. He could also be mysterious which only added to his appeal. They called him BOCO, a name they came up with themselves.
Because his death came all too soon and unexpected, we are overcome with the knowledge that his smile will no longer light up a room, his jovial mirthful voice won’t be there to greet or welcome us, his benevolent presence won’t grace our doorsteps bearing gifts. It is his magnanimous spirit and loving way we will miss the most.
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye. We will mourn him as long as we live and rise to meet him in eternity.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Reyes and Mary Santos Valdez. He is survived by his son Lee Valdez (Raquel); daughter Lavonne Clark (Matt); brother Robert Valdez; sisters, Cynthia Arocha, Linda Porter, Nancy Valdez; grandchildren, Samuel Clark, Nathan Clark, Josiah Clark, Natalie Clark, Madeline Clark, and Simon Clark; nephews, Rene "Rudy" Arocha, Brian Stark, and Jonathan Stark; neice Leticia Caballero; and his numerous friends from the neighborhood.
