Edward Solis Hernandez entered Heaven on January 7, 2019 at the age of 66. He grew up on the south side of San Antonio where he attended Central Catholic and Highlands High School. Eddie enjoyed fishing and had a passion for all genres of music. He spent many years as a radio DJ under the name of Freddy Rodriguez. He worked at stations like KJ97, KONO, and others based in The San Antonio and coastal areas. In his retirement years he spent majority of his time with his granddaughter Mackenzie at what he called “Grandpa Daycare”. He cherished his time with her and the rest of his family. Eddie had a fun sense of humor and a personality that was bigger than life. He made family game nights hilarious! He loved playing practical jokes, magic tricks, and making people laugh. Throughout his life him and his twin brother Rick, would pretend to be each other just to see how long it would take people to catch on. They were always up to something! He considered himself a collector of unique treasures and objects that held sentiment value. Eddie was a very kind and humble man who would drop everything to help others. He didn’t have a lot but was always willing to share. He was a man of strong faith and if you were a friend of his your were a friend for life. He is survived by his children: Edward Hernandez, Sarah Hernandez and her fiance Miguel Ley, Stephanie Sanchez and her husband, Anthony; brothers: Henry Hernandez, Joe Hernandez and his wife Nellie, his twin brother Richard Hernandez. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Mackenzie Grace, Luke and Noah and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and mother Enrique and Rebecca Hernandez.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Project Mend, a non-profit organization to help with medical equipment for persons with disabilities or the American Diabetes Association.
