On Friday, December 27th, 2024, a beloved mother and friend, Elaine Herron, passed away at the Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. At age 75, Elaine was called to be with the Lord and Heavenly Father. Born July 25th, 1949, in Bellville, Texas, Elaine was the only child of the late Tobe H. Herron and Elizabeth Sykes. She was preceded in death by her only son, Jeffrey Ahmed Josey, and parents, Tobe H. Herron and Elizabeth Sykes.
Elaine is survived by her faithful and best friend, Lynda Banks. The two met at Breckenridge High School and shared a deep bond and a lifetime of experiences together. Lynda stood by Elaine in times of sorrow and celebrated with Elaine in times of joy; she was a guiding light in Elaine’s life. Elaine faithfully cared for her family and friends and embraced those that she met and knew, openly.
Elaine attended Breckenridge High School in 1967. Elaine continued her studies at The University of Incarnate Word and graduated in 1987. She then went on to pursue her Master’s degree in Nursing. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Elaine was a Certified Registered Nurse for 30 years. Elaine spent several years as a Travel Nurse in Cuba and the remaining years in San Antonio, Texas. Her natural gift was always to serve others, she was conscientious about serving her patients with dignity, respect, and true compassion. She continued to exemplify her true calling through her mentoring, wisdom, and experience gained over the years.
Residing at a Personal Care Home for 3 years, Elaine had a unique ability to connect with people on a level that transcended the ordinary. She listened with her heart, understood with her soul, and spoke words that had the power to heal, inspire, and uplift others. Elaine was known to shop and purchase the newest and latest items and gave generously without hesitation. Throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Elaine had a signature gift of joy, shown through her everlasting laughter, smiling, and joking around, that will never be forgotten.
A mighty woman of faith, Elaine’s favorite Gospel singer was Kirk Franklin, and would play her favorite song, “Melodies from Heaven.” With her Bible open on her bedside, Elaine encouraged and shaped the spirituality of others through her Christian example. Elaine had the most consistent evidence of God’s goodness towards others. One of the greatest privileges in life was knowing Elaine Herron. Elaine’s spirit will forever live on in our memories, stories, and in the love that she so generously shared with us. In the arms of her Savior, Elaine’s legacy of love, strength, and inspiration will continue to live on in our hearts forevermore.
