Elizabeth Podesta

Elizabeth LaVerne Podesta was born in Cotulla, TX on June 17, 1930 and was called home by the Lord on May 30, 2021. She is survived by her children Louis H. Podesta (Marsha Metz), Mary Beth Sawyer, Joseph O. Podesta; grandson Christopher L. Sawyer (Leslie); great-granddaughters Arianna K. Sawyer & Ainsley M. Sawyer; siblings Mary Espinoza, Sadie Garcia, Dolores De Leon Beardsley, Irene De Leon, Martin J. De Leon (Maria Elena), Marino De Leon (Norma) and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Louis N. Podesta, parents Genaro and Helen (Hernandez) De Leon, siblings Eliseo Garcia, Santiago Garcia, Helen Martinez, Leo De Leon, Blanche Garza, and Henry De Leon, Jr.

In addition to being devoted to her family and friends, she spent many years serving in leadership roles for numerous educational,religous and civic organizations. After a 25-year career in civil service, she opened her own floral business. She spent many years in floral design and was an international judge. She was a long time active member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.
