Eugenio M. Lopez

September 6, 1927 — August 6, 2024

Eugenio Mancha Lopez, age 96, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday morning August 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Laredo Texas on September 6, 1927, to Aurelio & Petra Lopez. Eugenio was married to the love of his life Mirta Barrera Lopez for 69 years and they lived in San Antonio where they raised five children.

Our father was a devoted catholic who prayed the rosary daily until his last waking moment. His dedication to his wife, his family and to his catholic faith will always be the reminder and foundation of our father’s legacy.  Our father worked hard to provide for our family, and he retired from J.C. Penney Company after 43 years of employment. In his younger and into his adult years, he had a passion for baseball. He especially loved watching the Houston Astros play. Eugenio also loved dancing with Mirta, our mother and being outside listening to music. Our father especially enjoyed spending time with the family & having BBQ cookouts. He had a beautiful gift of sharing his stories every time we would get together which always made us laugh. Our world will never be the same without our father. We will miss him tremendously and he will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Eugenio is preceded in death by his parents Aurelio and Petra Lopez, his brother Jose, his grandson Patrick Ryan Lopez, his son-in-law Frank Campos, and his loving wife Mirta Barrera Lopez.

Eugenio is survived by his five children: Eugenio Jr. and wife Karen, Lamar Linda Campos, David Lopez and wife Dee, Joel Lopez and wife Sylvia, Deano Lopez and wife Lisa Marie and his grandchildren; Brian Lopez and wife April, Jared Lopez, Justin Lopez, Sarah Rivera and husband Raimy, Elizabeth G. Lopez, Janel C Trevino, Michael A Campos and Nicole Askew and husband David along with many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews. What a beautiful legacy he leaves behind and his legacy will carry on through his children and their families.

The family would also like to give a special thank you to all those who cared for our father, Eugenio, especially in his last days while he was in hospice care at ABODE Home. May the Lord Bless you and your families for caring for our father.

In Lieu of flowers, our family asks that donations be given to the hospice care facility ABODE, a non-profit end-of-life home care in San Antonio. Their website is https://abodehome.org/ and we thank you in advance for your donations.

On Friday, August 23, 2024, at 10:30 am, a graveside burial service will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery at 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266.
