Frederick "Rick" Charles Bernhardt was born in Dallas County Texas on May 15, 1957 to proud parents Robert and Connie. He went to be with his Lord and Savior the morning of March 20, 2022. He is survived by his devoted and beloved wife Desiree, his Parents, his brother Robert Bernhardt and his sister Vickie Surratt. He is also survived by his children Frederick Bernhardt Jr. and his wife Amanda, along with their children Connor and Carson, his son Michael Bernhardt and Michael’s son Logan, daughter Randi Elrod, and daughter Lisa Burno and her husband Tony, along with their son Corbin.
Rick was a devoted family man. He was blessed to have 3 children with his first wife Rose and he got his second daughter when he married the love of his life, Desiree, on June 16, 1990. Rick was also an avid sportsman. He loved to hunt and fish, especially with his sons and older grandsons. He truly loved fishing at his parents home in Lake Fork and taking care of the family “farm” in Kyote, Texas.
Rick was also a dedicated career man. He started his career at Jordan Ford on December 29, 1986 and proudly worked there until just months before he passed. He started out as a mechanic. He worked hard to become Master Mechanic. Rick taught himself all about computers and eventually became the Infrastructure Manager for Jordan Ford. Rick and the family became members of Northern Hills UMC in 1992. He was very involved with the congregation and his church family so much he became a lay director for the walk to Emmaus , and stayed active in the Emmaus community for years to come. He served on many committees and taught Sunday school.
You are invited to come and celebrate Rick’s life with the family. A viewing has been planned at Puente and Sons Funeral Home Sunday, April 3rd at 4:00 pm with services to follow at 5:30 pm.
A graveside service is planned for Monday April 4th. Gathering for the funeral procession will begin at Puente and Sons Funeral Home promptly at 10:00 am; leaving for the cemetery at 10:30 am. Interment will be held at Oak Island UMC cemetery at 12:00 pm. Light refreshments to follow.
