Gabriel Martin Alvarez

On the morning of July 27th, 2021, Gabriel Martin Alvarez was called Home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ after battling COVID-19. He was born on August 28th, 1973 at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, TX.
Gabriel is preceded in death by his paternal Grandparents Martin & Aurelia Alvarez, His maternal grandfather Santos Escobedo, His aunts Maria Theresa Alvarez, Yvonne Campos, Anita Estrada, Gloria Ortiz and his Uncle Joe Ortiz.
He is survived by his parents Martin & Linda Alvarez, his grandmother Beatrice Escobedo, his children Willie Cabrera, Martín & Gabriela Alvarez, his sister and brother-in-law Loraine & James Rowe, his nephew and nieces Cameron, Jocelyn & Avery Rowe, former spouse Martha Alvarez, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends.
Gabriel was a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School, he briefly served in the US Navy where he was stationed off the coast of Italy. He was a loving, kind individual who never lost touch with his inner kid, he enjoyed playing video games, watching Marvel movies and doing impressions of his favorite characters from shows he loved. He believed in trying to help those in need. He was a dedicated employee of Caremark and enjoyed spending time with his coworkers and friends. He had an ear for music; he taught himself to play the piano, guitar and flute and had a wonderful singing voice. He was a talented artist, creating beautiful pencil drawings. Nothing brought Gabriel more joy in life than his children and he relished his role as a father, always making time to connect his children. Gabriel also enjoyed spending time with his trusty dog companion Beau.
Gabriel will be remembered for his huge smile, hearty laugh, silliness, and easy-going personality. He loved life and brought so much joy to his family and friends. Gabriel will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday August 8th, 2021 at Puente & Sons Funeral Home. Service will be from 3:00-8:00 PM with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Burial service to follow on Monday August 9th, 2021 at the Archdiocese of San Antonio Holy Cross Cemetery in the Chapel at 10:30 AM with a short prayer at the burial site.
