Gerardo (Gerald) R. Martinez

Gerardo (Gerald) R. Martinez born on April 14, 1922 in Beeville, TX, went peacefully to be with the Lord on September 2, 2011 at the age of 89 of Alzheimer’s. He is now by the side of his precious wife, Lydia and his eldest daughter, Vilma Turner whom he loved so very dearly. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Eloisa Martinez and his brother, Alfonso Martinez, Jr. He is survived by his two daughters, Diana Guevara and Lydia (Lulu) Martinez; his “adopted” son: Ted Watson and his grandchildren: JC Guevara and Laura Guevara. He is also survived by his three sisters: Leonore Rios, Delia Contreras and Eufemia Garza and numerous relatives. He honorably served our Country in the U. S. Navy in WWII. Upon his departure from the Navy, he and his wife resided in Beeville where they successfully owned and operated Siesta Grocery Store for many years. Upon retiring, they eventually moved to San Antonio, TX. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten and will be in our hearts forever.

At his request, there will be no formal services.
