Gertrudis Vasquez, 69, of San Antonio, Texas entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Gertrudis was born on November 17, 1950, in San Eduardo, Pasaquina, De La Union, El Salvador to Fransisco Canales and Maria Luisa Vasquez. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maria Luisa Vasquez.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Maria Luisa Vasquez; his sons, Lissner (Diana) Vasquez and Dani (Diana) Vasquez; his brothers, Leonardo (Blanca) Vasquez, Jose Vasquez, and Salomon (Juana) Vasquez; his sisters, Lya (Mercedes) Vasquez, Filomena (Noel) Sanchez, Rosa (Emilio) Sanchez, Maria (Ruben) Hernandez, Gladis Marina (Ismael) Hernandez, and Marlenis (Oscar) Hernandez; his grandchildren, Dylen Vasquez, Delilah Vasquez, and Natalia Elena Vasquez.
Gertrudis Vasquez worked as a sous chef for the Marriott Resort for over 10 years in which he shared his love for cooking with the guest staying at the resort. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. If he were not in the kitchen cooking up a hot meal you would more than likely find him outside caring for his yard, plants, and garden. His love for nature went beyond being outside in his yard, on his free time he enjoyed watching anything and everything on the National Geographic Channel, as he would tell his family “pon los animalitos”. Above all else, he was a family man and a man of Christ. He was loved and cherished by many, and he will be forever missed.
