Gilbert A. Hewitt

July 18, 1940 — September 26, 2015

Gilbert A. Hewitt of San Antonio, Texas was called to be with his Lord on September 26, 2015 at the age of 75. Gilbert was preceded in death by his loving wife Paula Hewitt; his parents, Martin and Esther Hewitt; his brother, Martin Hewitt; and his sisters, Aster Mae Pacheco and Dorothy Smith. Mr. Hewitt is survived by his daughter, Edith Gonzaba; his sons, Gilbert Jerry Hewitt Jr. (Yvonne) and Garren Hewitt; mother of his children, Marie Hewitt; his sisters, Josephine Barragan (Augustine) and Betty Hernandez; his beloved grandchildren, Kristel Gonzaba, Gabriella Gonzaba, George Gonzaba, Alexandria Gonzaba, Amber Hewitt, Aiden Hewitt and Emma Hewitt; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Gilbert was a simple and humble man who enjoyed life with no complaints. He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Gilbert was a crafty carpenter. He loved to dance, listen to music with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing Bingo and working out at the Elvira Cisneros Senior Community Center. The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the VA, the American Lung Association, Christus Sister Mary Hospice Center and all other medical facilities that provided care for him and for their compassion and great care.
