Gilbert Escobedo’s time with us has ended to join the love of his life, his wife, Maria Elena, who has been awaiting his arrival in heaven. He is preceded in death by his parents; Victor Escobedo & Alicia Arriola. He is survived by his son, Gilbert Escobedo JR & his wife Jennifer Rae; daughter, Genissa Ann Rolfe & her husband, Landon; Grandchildren, Gilbert Jacob, Elleanna Rae, Leila Grace, Landon Jackson & a loving extended family & friends.
Gibby was the 4th born of six children in San Antonio, TX. He attended Kennedy High School where he enlisted in ROTC. He met his future wife at the age of 17 and shortly after married in 1976. Together were stationed in Germany with the US Army where they had their firstborn, Gilbert Jr in 1978. They returned to San Antonio, Texas, and had their second child, Genissa in 1983. After his US Army years of service, his sense of wonder in how things worked lead him to be an auto mechanic. He was most proud of his family and passing time with his grandchildren. His hobbies included woodworking, puzzles and of course fishing. He would fish anytime & anyplace. He was a man of few words, but was a loving husband, father, PoPo, brother, uncle and friend to so many. Helping others first is what he will be remembered for. He will be missed by so many but his kindness will never be forgotten. At last, he will be reunited with his beloved wife.
