Glenn Phillip Hall

February 2, 1933 — February 28, 2023

Lieutenant Colonel Glenn Hall went to be with our Lord on February 28, 2023.  He was born on February 2, 1933, in Flint Michigan to James and Alice Hall. When Glenn was quite young, his family returned to their roots in Southeast Missouri where he grew up.  From 7th grade on, he always managed to have a part-time job while playing sports in school.

In 1958, he met and married Joanne Potter while attending Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri.  She has preceded him in death. While attending college, he was called into the ministry, and upon college graduation entered seminary. He was a member of the first graduation class of St. Paul’s School of Theology in Kansas City.  Glenn also completed a Master

in Science Degree from Long Island University; Master of Pastoral Psychology from Baylor University and Specialist Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from St. Mary’s University.

On July 4, 1964, Glenn joined the United States Army where he believed he was needed the most and could follow God’s plan for his life.  He wanted to be where the fighting was and volunteered for the Airborne Troops and took parachute jump training. Glenn was assigned to the 101st Airborne with duty in Vietnam.

Glenn served 7 years as a Methodist minister in Missouri, 21 years as an Army Chaplain, and 14 years on the staff of University United Methodist Church here in San Antonio.  His Chaplaincy included assignments at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Viet Nam; Fort Hamilton, New York; Germany; Fort Huachuca, Arizona; Fort Sam Houston, Texas; and Triple Army

Hospital Honolulu, Hawaii.

Upon retirement, Glenn enjoyed volunteering at Windcrest Methodist Church in different positions, working with Master Gardeners on rodeo and city projects, and having more time to read favorite mystery books.  Glenn was a dedicated husband and father. Highlights of his life include son, Bryant; son Darrell and wife Jennifer; grandchildren Tanner and wife Lyssa, Allison, and Michael; great grandchildren Carter, Sabrina, and Avery.  Time spent with his family was the ultimate enjoyment and pleasure for him and a blessing in every way.

In addition to his immediate family, his passing will leave a deep void with many beloved family members and dear friends.

We are joyful Glenn and Joanne are now together with our Heavenly Father.
