Henry Quin Mauldin

September 3, 1954 — April 15, 2013

Henry Quin Mauldin was born in Houston, Texas on September 3, 1954. Succumbing to a long battle with cancer, Henry entered into eternal peace on April 15, 2013. He was a committed Christian who trusted that God was his hope and provision. His desire was that each of his siblings and all of his loved ones would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus as Christ. His hope was that he would welcome each of them at the ultimate Homecoming. Henry served in the US Army in the early 1970s and then studied finance at the University of Texas, but his enjoyment was music and his creativity was expressed in several mediums of art. It was a common sight to see Henry sitting in the grass or on the floor with his guitar, playing Neil Young’s Cinnamon Girl, Paul McCartney’s Rocky Raccoon, Kenny Loggins’ House at Pooh Corner, or Gary P. Nunn’s London Homesick Blues. Most of his pen and ink drawings or watercolor paintings hang on the walls of his loved ones’ homes. Henry’s legacy to each of his nieces and nephews is the many hours he invested to encourage them to explore their own creativity. Several of his catch phrases live on in their vocabulary too. It would be a grievous oversight to not mention Henry’s life-long appreciation of the Cowboys and the Longhorns. Few people enjoy watching football as much as Henry did. He loved life and felt deeply. Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Butler Kimball Mauldin, Sr. and Winona Lou Merrell. He is a beloved brother survived by his seven siblings: brothers B. Kim Mauldin, Jr., John Blaine, and William Scott Mauldin; sisters Anita Mauldin, Wanda Stults, Elizabeth Mauldin, and Beulah Puente. Additionally, Henry enjoyed the love and admiration of extended family, specifically Sandra and several dozen nieces and nephews. Each one will miss his sparkling eyes, kind smile, and loving attitude.
