Herman F. Mansur

Herman (Tex) Mansur, 86, passed away from failing health at home surrounded by loved ones on Feb 8th, 2010. Born in Orange Grove, Tx on Oct 7, 1923 to Rev Isaac and Hulda Mansur. Tex graduated from Texas Lutheran College in Seguin, Wartburg College in Waverly, Ia and Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Ia. He married Dorothy Hartley on Jan 28, 1947 and had 7 wonderful children. Tex and Dorothy felt called to the mission field in Papua New Guinea where they established the Banz mission station in the Western Highlands. After 20 years of service the family returned to the US. Tex served Lutheran Social Services in Mpls Mn as a Pastoral Counselor for 20 years. They retired to Onalaska, Tx and in 2005 moved to San Antonio. Their daughter Connie opened her home; providing constant care, support and comfort through their remaining years. Dorothy died on Jan 20th, 2007. Tex enjoyed bridge, being active in his church, and felt blessed to be near family and friends.
