Hiram Johnson Jr, better know as Jr, was born January 5th, 1955 at 11:17 P.M in Iowa City, IA to Jacqueline Nolan-Roberts and Hiram Johnson Sr.
Jr graduated from East High School in Waterloo, IA where he became one of the best swimmers in the city. He enlisted in the U. S Army on February 6th, 1974 and served as a Electrician. Hiram discharged the Army with honorable discharge February 4th, 1976. Jr began working for John Deere in Waterloo, IA in 1973 where he later retired from. He also received his black belt in Martial Arts and became a member of the Freemasonry.
He was married four times to Bessie Johnson, Linda Johnson, Bettie Johnson and Evonn Johnson but was not married at the time of his death. He had four children Nicole from his first marriage, Hireama from his second marriage , Xavius and Lakevcia from two other relationships and a stepson Taurean also from his first marriage.
Jr loved to travel and lived in many states such as Nevada, Colorado, Louisiana and Texas where he spent his last days. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren going out to eat and out of town with them. He loved going to get coffee and breakfast at Morgs, Village Inn or Junnies all in Waterloo, IA. He loved listening to music one of his favorite songs was James Brown " The Payback". He was well known is his community and loved by many.
After six long years of battling cancer ,Jr died August 29th, 2018 at 5:30 P.M in San Antonio, Texas at Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital. Hiram Johnson Jr had a heart of gold, a laugh full of life, a smile as big and bright as the sun, a voice so raspy and big, and a soul that filled so many lives. He will surely be missed.
He leaves to cherish his memories three daughters Nicole (Henry) Phillips Dawson of San Antonio TX, Hireama Johnson of Abbeville LA, Lakevcia Clark of Minneapolis MN; stepson Taurean Johnson Jenkins of Waterloo IA; seven grandchildren Shannon Alford of Des Moines, IA, Shantavius Alford of Austin TX, Tyrima Johnson of Des Moines IA, Artejia Sumerall of San Antonio TX, Kieaurie Ross, Kevari Harris and Kadence Mitchner all three of Minneapolis MN; seven great-grand children X'Zaevion Alford, Zi'Onna Alford, Tae'Marri Alford, Aunyla Alford of Waterloo IA, Kai Alford of Austin TX, Sa'geah Hodges and Nova Alford of Des Moines IA; two sisters Lisa Roberts of Waterloo IA and Kim Cunningham of Hopkins MN; and three brothers Rodney Roberts of Minneapolis MN, Henry Johnson and William Roberts of Waterloo IA. Along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Jr is preceded in death by his son Xavius Scullark-Johnson, mother Jacqueline Nolan-Roberts, father Hiram Johnson Sr. and sister Vorotta Johnson.
