Irma Elia Martinez was born on February 10, 1955, in San Antonio, TX. She passed away peacefully at home on June 02, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends and her sweet fur baby Betty. She was preceded in death by her mother Carmen R. Martinez, baby sister Ida E Martinez, grandparents Gilbert and Hilaría S. Martinez. She is survived by her sister Rosa Elva Martinez, her lifelong friend Anita F Mesa, Lucy De La Rosa (aunt), Ray (uncle) and Lupe (aunt) Martinez and several cousins. Irma was a 1973 National Honor Society graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. In spite of her lifelong health issues, because of her determination and perseverance she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and became a Registered Nurse. She practiced nursing at Metropolitan General and Northeast Methodist hospitals. Her passion was nursing and even after retirement she continued to show care and concern for the wellbeing of others. Irma enjoyed playing her guitar at our family gatherings, we would sing Christmas Carols, family favorites, Mexican songs and church hymns. Her family and friends will miss her quick wit, wry sense of humor and caring ways. The family wishes to express their gratitude to her doctor and nurses who attended to her every need throughout her illness. May you rest in peace sis, I love you and miss you. Remember what grandpa and grandma always used to tell us as we were leaving “QUE DIOS TE BENDIGA”
