Irma Soledad Rodriguez

Irma Soledad Rodriguez, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in San Antonio, Texas on February 20, 2023. Irma (or Nena) was born to her parents, Roberto & Margarita Rodriguez, on January 3, 1938, in Rio Grande City, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roberto A. Rodriguez, Federico J. Rodriguez, and Gilberto Rodriguez; granddaughter, Tiffany Rodriguez and nephew, Freddie Rodriguez. 

Irma is survived by her son, David R. (Teresa Hiracheta) Rodriguez of Kyle; brothers, Pedro (Pauline) Rodriguez of San Antonio and Mario (Jesusa) Rodriguez of Kyle; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Rodriguez of Schertz, and Diana Rodriguez of San Antonio; Eddie L. Knight of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Our family extends a special thank you to her niece, Laura; daughter-in-law, Teresa; dear friend, Yolanda Salazar, and the nursing staff of VITAS Hospice Care for providing loving comfort and care in her last few months of life. Irma had a gift for accounting and office management that could never be replaced, but that she was always willing to teach. 

She was a devout and cherished leader and member of the Guadalupanas of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (OLPH) for more than 20 years—the Guadalupanas were her beloved second family. Irma was a bright light of guidance, strength, and love for so many, and her heart was filled with endless compassion for others. She was the epitome of grace and a genuinely beautiful, giving human being who always dedicated every piece of herself to her family, friends, and God without complaint or judgment. She will forever be loved and missed beyond comprehension. 

Visitation will be held on March 7, 2023 at Puente and Sons Funeral Chapels at 3:00 PM with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on March 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Selma, Texas.
