James Jim Allen Wood died October 27, 2008, after several months in the hospital. He was 65.
Jim graduated from Flour Bluff High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1964 aboard the USS Ticonderoga and was a witness to the Christmas Island hydrogen bomb tests. Jim later worked for Exxon and Southwestern Bell. Jim was proud to be an Eagle Scout and active with the Boy Scouts of America. He also loved racing and working on hot rods.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother Alice Wood Penton. He is survived by his father Gerald Gene Wood (Elsie) of Seguin; son Justin Wood of Tomball; brother Carl Wood (Betty) of Austin; uncle Roy Miller (Dolores) of Texas City; his former wife J. Kathleen Moore of Houston, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials:
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, November 8, at the Old Nixon Cemetery, FM 1150, Luling (from Luling go south on SH 80 5 miles to FM 1150, then 2 miles southwest on FM 1150). The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Boy Scouts of America, American Diabetes Association or your favorite charity.
