On Monday, August 3, 2020, James “Lane” Gardner III, loving husband and father of three passed away at the age of fifty-seven. Lane was born June 26, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas to James and Bertha Gardner. He attended high school in Devine, Texas and continued his education at The University of Phoenix and Our Lady of the Lake University. For over twenty-five years Lane worked as an Emergency Medical Technician in Bandera, Hondo, Medina, Castroville, and San Antonio. On July 29, 1995, he married Paula Rae Jones. Together they raised two sons, Jensen and Sterling, and one daughter, Kaylie.
Lane had a passion for serving the community. Over his twenty-five years as a first responder he strived to assist those in need. He was able to build many long standing relationships and friendships with those he worked with and assisted throughout his career. In his spare time, Lane was an avid fan of things ranging from music to sports cars, and he spent his last month’s obtaining and driving the latter. He was known for his humorous disposition, his quick wit, and his dedication to his family. Lane was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha. He is survived by his wife Paula, his three children, Jensen, Sterling, and Kaylie, his father James, his brothers John and David, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held in his honor at a later date.
