James Murry Baxter
November 21, 1927 to November 23, 2016
Jessie Hattie King and James Houston Baxter were married on June 20, 1909. The Baxter's lived in Batesville, Texas. On November 21, 1927, Jessie gave birth to James Murry Baxter near the river. Together Jessie and James had eight children. James is preceded in death by six siblings and is survived by his 91 year old brother Larry.
James lived in Uvalde where he met the love of his life Patsy Joella Moore. They soon married and had four children. Patsy passed away in February 2012. Today, the family has grown to eleven grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
James went on to teach High School students in Uvalde, Texas. During this time, James attended Southwest Texas State University and graduated with a Degree in Chemistry.
James was drafted by a professional baseball league but was never given the opportunity to play. Shortly thereafter, James was drafted to serve in the military. James proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. His dreams were shattered when his knees were crushed by fallen pipes.
James then moved to Houston and worked for 20 years as a hospital Lab Director. James then relocated to Rusk, Texas where he became the Lab Director of the Rusk State Hospital until his retirement after 20+ years of service. In 2009, James moved to San Antonio where he continued to reside until his death on November 23, 2016.
James loved the Lord, his dear family, farming and his dogs.
